Dehradun is no more the sleepy town as it once was. Its people are rising to make it more prominent on the map. Taking the lead from how many Doonites love books,The Booknerds club was launched with a bang on 18th October at Hotel JSR continental, Dehradun. A one of its kind initiative, under the banner of Angrezi Mentor, the club aims to bring together the book lovers of the valley and give them a common platform for sharing books and related ideas as the founder Rohan Raj states, “This club is one of its kind, as it will encompass various genres poets and writers of languages other than English too. He reiterates that book launches, literary discussions, field trips will be an added feature of this amazing venture into the world of books.
The co-founder, Neha Raj, a corporate professional plans to carry forward this initiative towards developing the love for books among the underprivileged strata of society too. For now the Booknerds club has planned to visit Woodstock School on the 24th of October to be a part of the Mussoorie Writer’s Festival. The launch ended with a book reading session, with Mrs. Richa Bhatt Badola , a Dehradun based writer and author of ‘A Slick Life’ which vividly portrays the life in and around Dehradun almost five decades back.
The opening was attended by many enthusiasts, ranging from high school students to retired government officers and holds promise to revive the dying culture of reading books.The first meeting of the club shall be at Sunburn Bistro on October 25, 2015 from 12pm to 2 pm.
