The Colour Purple set in the 1900s and is a poignantly written novel by an African American woman named Celie. The protagonist writes letters to God ,and that is how we know her innermost feelings and what she is going through. Celie's interactions with Shug Avery underline her growth and empowerment. With her writing, she realistically and captivatingly portrays the emotions and accents of the people, with undertones. It won a deserved Pulitzer Prize too.
